ON the fifth day of the fourth month of king Jehoiachin’s fifth year in captivity, the Self-existent [the Holy Spirit] spoke to Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by Chebar Canal – the hand of the Self-existent [the Holy Spirit] took hold of him there. Ezekiel wrote:

IN the thirtieth year in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the Chebar canal, the sky opened and I saw the Self-existent [the Holy Spirit] in a vision: A whirlwind coming from the north, a great cloud with fire flashing back and forth and a brilliant light all around it; in the center of the fire was a gleam like amber.

With Him were four living creatures. This was their appearance: They had human form, 

but each of them had four faces and four wings. 

Their legs were straight and the soles of their feet were like the hooves of a calf, sparkling like the gleam of polished bronze. 

They had human hands under their wings on their four sides. All four had faces and wings,

the wing of one touching the other. They did not turn as they moved; each one went straight ahead. 

The front faces of each of them was that of a human being; also each of the four had the face of a lion on the right, the face of an ox on the left, and the face of an eagle on the back. 

That is what their faces were. Their wings were spread upward; each had two wings touching that of another and two wings covering its body. 

Any direction the Self-existent [the Holy Spirit] went, they went without turning as they moved.

The beings were like burning coals of fire and torches. Fire was moving back and forth between them; it was bright, with lightning coming out of it. 

They were darting back and forth like flashes of lightning.

When I looked at them, there was one wheel with four faces on the ground beside each being. 

The wheels looked like the gleam of beryl; all four had the same form. The look was like a wheel within a wheel. 

When they moved, they went in any of the four directions without pivoting as they moved. 

Their rims were large and frightening. Each of their four rims was full of eyes all around. 

When the living creatures moved, the wheels moved beside them, and when they rose from the ground, the wheels also rose. 

Any direction the Self-existent [the Holy Spirit] went, the living creatures went. The wheels rose alongside them because the spirit [breath] of the living creatures was in the wheels:

When the living creatures moved, the wheels moved; when they stood a while, the wheels stood a while; when the living creatures rose from the ground, the wheels rose alongside them; because the spirit [breath] of the living creatures was in the wheels.

Something like an expanse, with a gleam like an awe-inspiring crystal, was spread out over the heads of the living creatures. 

Under the expanse, their wings extended one toward another. Each of them also had two wings covering each side of their bodies. 

When they moved, I heard the sound of their wings like the roar of mighty waters, like the voice of the Almighty [the Self-existent], and a sound of commotion like the noise of an army. When they rested, they lowered their wings.

A voice [the voice of the Self-existent, the Holy Spirit] came from above the expanse over their heads when they stood a while and had lowered their wings. 

Something like a throne looking like a sapphire stone was above the expanse. There was a Personality [the Self-existent - the Holy Spirit] looking like a human being on that thing that looked like a throne. 

From what seemed to be His waist up, I saw a gleam like amber, with what looked like fire enclosing it all around. From what seemed to be His waist down, I also saw what looked like fire. There was a brilliant light all around Him.

The appearance of the rainbow all around was like that of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day. This is the Glory of the Self-existent – the Self-existent, the Holy Spirit. When I saw Him , I fell facedown and heard Someone’s voice speaking.
