WET VERSION
CHAPTER 1
the Self-existent [the Holy Spirit] called Moses from the meeting tent [the sacred place] and said to him,
Speak to the children of Israel, “If any one among you is bringing animals as an offering to the Self-existent, it shall be from the herd or from the flock.
If his offering is a burnt offering and he is bringing it from the herd, he is to bring a male without defect, present it voluntarily at the entrance of the meeting tent [the sacred place] to the Self-existent,
and lay his hand on the head of it for it to be accepted for atonement for him.
He shall then offer the bullock to the Self-existent; and the priests, Aaron’s sons, shall splash the blood against all sides of the altar that is placed at the entrance of the meeting tent [the sacred place].
Following that, he shall skin the
animal for
the burnt offering and cut it into pieces.
Then a son of Aaron, the priest, shall put fire on the altar and set wood in order on top of the fire.
After, the priest, Aaron’s son, shall place the parts, the head and the fat, properly, on the wood that is on top of the fire, at the top of the altar,
its entrails and legs, having
been washed with water: All shall be burnt on the altar
as
a burnt offering, an offering made by
burning
, a fragrant aroma to the Self-existent.
If his offering
is
from the flocks – sheep or goats –
and it is
for a burnt offering, he shall bring a male without blemish,
offer it on the northern side of the altar to the Self-existent, and splash the blood against all sides of the altar.
Following that, the priest shall cut it to pieces and place
the pieces
with the head and the fat, properly, on the wood that is on top of the fire which is on top of the altar,
having
washed the entrails and the legs with water: All shall be brought and burnt on the altar
as
a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by
burning
, a fragrant aroma to the Self-existent.
If his offering to the Self-existent is from fowls,
and it isû a burnt offering, he shall bring turtledoves or young pigeons.
The priest shall bring it to the altar, wring off its head, and burn it on the altar, having wrung out the blood and splashed it against all sides of the altar.
Following that, he shall pluck off its crop with its feathers and throw it beside the altar, on the east side, near the place for the ashes.
Then he shall use its wings to tear it, but shall not tear it apart; and the priest shall burn it on the altar, on top of the wood that is on the fire – it is a burnt offering, an offering made by
burning
, a fragrant aroma to the Self-existent.
